On January 30, 2024, leaders from the County Party Committee and the County People’s Armed Forces Department, together with Jiang Xianfu, former Director of the County People’s Armed Forces Department and Chief Advisor of the County Red Culture Research Association, carried out pre‑Spring Festival condolence visits to parents of active‑duty military personnel and veterans. Wang Qiye, President of the County Red Culture Research Association, Director of Weifang Yuhua Xincheng Public Welfare Center, President of the County Veterans Volunteer Association and General Manager of Shandong Frameless Apparel Co., Ltd., together with vice presidents of various associations, took part in the visit.
This Spring Festival warming activity was jointly initiated by the County Red Culture Research Association, Weifang Yuhua Xincheng Public Welfare Service Center and the County Veterans Volunteer Association. Under the unified organization and guidance of Linqu County People’s Armed Forces Department and the County Bureau of Veterans Affairs, the group visited and offered condolences to veteran soldiers, parents of active‑duty service members and veterans, elderly Party members, childless elderly people and households in extreme poverty.

Led by Ma Huichang, Member of the Party Committee of Jiangyu Town, the group travelled to Xiliujiazhuangzi Village to visit the father of Liu Yanli, an active‑duty service member serving in a military unit in Xinjiang. They presented the household plaques of “Glorious Family” and “Meritorious Family” for Liu Yanli and hung them on the spot. At Liu Yanli’s home, leaders of the County People’s Armed Forces Department extended festive greetings to the elderly man on behalf of the County Party Committee, the County People’s Government and the County People’s Armed Forces Department. Learning that the elderly man had suffered from knee pain for many years, President Wang Qiye gave him plasters that he usually kept in his vehicle, explained how to use them, and hoped the elderly man would recover soon and get relief from pain.

The condolence group also visited the mother of Liu Xingteng, recipient of the First‑Class Combat Merit Citation, in Liujia Village of Jiangyu Town. They delivered daily necessities for the Spring Festival and festive greetings to the hero’s mother. Everyone was sincerely delighted to see that she was in good health.

In Kongcun Village, Dongcheng Sub‑district, at the home of Ma Wenliang, an active‑duty soldier in a Shandong Group Army, leaders of the County People’s Armed Forces Department had a cordial conversation with the elderly parents. They expressed the hope that the family would understand that military duties keep service members away from home and limit their time to stay with relatives, and that he would come back for visits whenever possible. They extended New Year greetings to the elderly on behalf of all participants.
In Chejiagou Village, Yiyuan Sub‑district, the group visited the mother of Zhang Chengbo, an active‑duty service member in a naval unit. The elderly lady was over eighty years old and in poor health, requiring daily care. As an old saying goes, loyalty and filial piety can hardly be achieved at the same time. Though she could not speak easily, she fully understood that her son was serving the country.

The condolence group then visited the parents of Wang Zonggong, an active‑duty service member stationed in a military unit in Weifang, in Nanmengjiazhuang Village of Yiyuan Sub‑district, conveying care and blessings from governments at all levels to military members and their families as the Spring Festival drew near.

In Nanmengjiazhuang Village, the group also visited the parents of Wang Dayuan, an outstanding service member who passed away young. Everyone was pleased to see that the elderly couple were healthier and in better spirits than in previous years. The elderly thanked everyone for their care and assistance. In particular, with active coordination by the County People’s Armed Forces Department, Wang Dayuan’s son was transferred back to study in the county. This fulfilled Wang Dayuan’s wish and allowed the grandson to stay with the elderly more often. Seeing their grandson regularly greatly lifted the couple’s mood. The group wished them continued good spirits and better health.
In Jiaochang Village, Chengguan Sub‑district, the group visited Li Guilan, mother of Professor Wang Jianguo from Naval Aviation University in Yantai. The elderly lady shared that during the three‑plus years of the pandemic, family members had difficulty returning home for the Lunar New Year. This year her son’s whole family planned to come back, and she was overjoyed at the prospect of a big family reunion.
